Ibasho Restaurant

An idyllic spot in a busy part of town

Ibasho is a small, tranquil escape in the city centre, with a modest but delightful Japanese garden, bamboo-latticed windows, and a simple, clean, wooden interior that is reminiscent of a high-end ryokan or Japanese Inn. They are also extremely welcoming (and popular with) tourists, so they have an English, Korean and Chinese menu. They serve nothing but the best grilled eel but give you a few options as to how you will eat it, from plain to sprinkled with diced green onions and wasabi on top. You can even choose to add hot green tea to the latter option which releases the flavour in the green onion and wasabi, creating a very warming dish.
