Kyoto Handicraft Centre

A huge selection of Japanese crafts and souvenirs under one roof

The Kyoto Handicraft Centre is home to a wide range of unique Japanese crafts, from pottery and lacquerware to toy dolls and ornamental swords.
Spread over 5 floors, the store offers a selection of locally produced goods, including sweets and cakes, kimonos and yukatas and traditional cast iron kettles.

In addition to selling souvenirs, the centre also runs classes in English teaching visitors how to create their own mementoes using traditional methods.
Workshops typically run for around 40 minutes and include folding fan decorating, woodblock printing and clay doll painting.
The Kyoto Handicraft Centre is popular with tourists so reservations via phone or email are advised for those hoping to take part in the classes.
