Midosuji Street

Upmarket shopping along the ‘Champs-Elysees of the East’

A tree-lined Boulevard cutting through the centre of Osaka, Midosuji Street is the perfect place to enjoy an outdoor stroll and luxury retail shopping.
The street itself is 4 kilometres long and serves as a link between Osaka’s major business districts, Kita and Minami.

The main shopping section stretches for around 2 kilometres from Kitahama in the north to the famous Dotonbori Canal in the south.
The area underwent a major overhaul in 2012 when the mayor of Osaka unveiled plans to transform it into a shopping destination to rival the Champs-Elysees in Paris and Singapore’s Orchard Road.

Today, the 44-metre-wide Boulevard is home to dozens of luxury brands, supercar showrooms and upscale hotels.
Stores include Louis Vuitton, Cartier and Tiffany & Co. There are also large branches of Nike and Puma as well as Osaka’s flagship Apple store.
Brightly coloured lights decorate the streets during autumn and winter which make for an impressive nighttime display.
